Luxury Camp in Agafay: What's Included in Your Stay?
Luxury tents, pool, meals, activities: here is exactly what's included in the price of a night at an Agafay luxury camp, and what costs extra.
An "all-inclusive" stay at a luxury camp in Agafay almost always includes the tent-suite with its private bathroom, breakfast, and access to the pool and 24-hour concierge; lunch, dinner at the restaurant and activities such as quad biking or horseback riding, however, are usually billed separately, depending on the package. Here, item by item, is what the price of a night in the Agafay desert actually covers, just 30 minutes from Marrakech, and what to budget for on top of it.
The tent-suites: what level of comfort is included in the price?
At Arabian Desert Home, three types of tent-suites make up the 6-hectare private estate: the Double Tent (36 m², one extra-large double bed, for up to 2 adults and 2 children), the Triple Tent (40 m², sleeping 3 guests) and the Family Tent (40 m², one extra-large double bed plus a single bed, for up to 4 adults and 3 children, with a mountain view). Each has a private bathroom and air conditioning, a detail that matters in a desert where summer days climb past 35°C and winter nights drop closer to 5-10°C. Breakfast, 24-hour concierge, and access to the lodge lounge and the pool are included in the tent's rate, whichever option you book, along with daily housekeeping and fresh linen.
What exactly does the price of a night at the camp cover?
The rate is usually charged per tent rather than per person: expect around €170 for the Double Tent and up to €220 for the Family Tent, breakfast included. That price covers the accommodation, bed and bath linen, daily housekeeping, access to the pool and the camp's restaurant, plus a concierge available day and night to arrange excursions or transfers. Most Agafay camps, Arabian Desert Home included, also offer an organized round-trip shuttle from Marrakech, roughly 30 to 45 minutes by road. Cancellation stays free up to 3 days before arrival, which leaves real flexibility if plans change.
Lunch and dinner: what does the rate actually cover?
Only breakfast is systematically included in the tent price. Lunch and dinner are taken, by choice, in one of the camp's three dining spaces: Le Dar Agafay (80 covers plus two outdoor pergolas for dinner under the stars, with oriental dance shows and light projections on the dunes), El Kheyma, a traditional Berber tent where meals are served on brass trays, or the Desert Rose Bar for a sunset cocktail. Expect 200 to 250 MAD per adult depending on the menu chosen among the four options (tradition, flavours, vegetarian or gourmet) — a separate expense unless your booking states otherwise. Booking dinner, especially the under-the-stars experience, is strongly recommended at least 24 hours ahead.
Activities: included in the stay, or an extra?
Pool and lounge access are part of the tent stay itself. Activities such as a camel ride, quad biking, buggy rides or horseback riding, as well as the Sunset Experience and the dinner-under-the-stars with gnawa music, are generally offered as an add-on, à la carte or as a package, since their cost depends on the number of participants and the duration chosen. A truly all-inclusive stay, bundling accommodation, meals and activities into one price, is usually arranged on request — particularly for a private event or a group, weddings and seminars included. It's worth asking about this when you book, rather than assuming every excursion is already covered by the tent's nightly rate.
Tent stay or Day Pass: which option fits which budget?
The Day Pass, from €35 per person, suits a day visit with pool access, lunch and activities, without an overnight stay. A night in a luxury bivouac is better suited to those who want to experience sunset and sunrise over the desert, sleep under a sky free of light pollution, and enjoy the camp once day-trippers have left. To compare both options item by item, our complete Agafay budget guide breaks down every expense, from the transfer to the activities.
